Game description:

Scarlet Skips is a one-button roguelike built around jumping rope. The player controls Scarlet, who goes outside to get away from a bad mood and starts skipping. There is only a small story setup rather than a full campaign. Most of the game is about surviving increasingly difficult runs, earning upgrades, and trying to reach higher scores. The same basic jumping action remains throughout the game, but upgrades continuously change how the rope and Scarlet behave.

One Button Controls the Entire Run

Scarlet is controlled through pressing, holding, and releasing a single input. Pressing begins the jump, holding affects how long she stays in the air, and releasing brings the jump to its next stage. The player must watch the rope and time each jump so Scarlet lands safely before the next rotation reaches her. Missing a skip ends the current run, so timing becomes more important as additional effects are introduced.

During a run, the player mainly has to:

  •         time jumps over the rope;
  •         control how long Scarlet stays in the air;
  •         survive enough skips to level up;
  •         choose one of three random upgrade cards;
  •         combine several upgrades during the same run;
  •         adjust timing when ropes or jump behavior change;
  •         continue until a missed jump ends the attempt.

Every Upgrade Changes the Rhythm

Leveling up pauses the action and presents three random power-ups. There are ten upgrade cards, and their effects can be stacked. Some increase jump height, while others add another rope or introduce effects such as a burning rope. Because several upgrades can operate at once, a run can become substantially different from its starting state. The player must continually adjust instead of learning one fixed timing pattern.

Runs Replace Traditional Levels

Scarlet Skips does not have conventional stages that are completed in a fixed order. Each attempt begins with a basic jump-rope setup and develops according to the upgrades received during that run. Different combinations can create higher jumps, additional ropes, altered timing, and other changes that make later skips more difficult.

The main objective is to keep Scarlet skipping for as long as possible while building a useful combination of upgrades. There is no combat, map exploration, or inventory management. Progress during a run comes from successful jumps and level-ups, while the main challenge is reacting when each new upgrade changes the timing the player has already learned.
